Recently we were approached by Summers-Inman which is a construction consultancy service which has offered its services to customers in the UK for over 80 years. They were taking on a huge project involving the refurbishment of some old operating theatres and we were on hand to supply a number of doors and doorsets to them.

They had approached us because we had actually successfully supplied a number of doorsets to the orthopaedic theatre within this establishment earlier on in 2011. As this was going to be an operating theatre there were a number of requirements which needed to be met.

We set about manufacturing the doors and doorsets for them and these were constructed using high quality solid timber core doors which had been faced with 2mm high impact PVC and had also been encapsulated with 2mm PVC edges too. As part of our door servicing the client requested that we place vision panels into the door. These would have to offer protection against fire and x-ray.

The vision panels were fixed with flush fitting glazing beads which would allow for them to be cleaned easily – a necessity in such a sterile environment. The glazing beads also offered greater protection from damage which would be cause by heavy traffic from theatre furniture and heavy patient trolleys which would constantly be being pushed through the theatre doors.

As this was a hospital setting there was a need for the doors to meet a full range of specifications including NFR, FD30, and FD60. Also the doors had to be lead lined so that they provided protection from the x-ray. We were highly recommended by Summers-Inman due to the high quality results which we had achieved on this site the year before. As you can see from the images provided our bespoke doors are completely customisable so that they can be adapted to meet virtually any requirements.
